These dolls are all the same size. The process in making them involved using a white muslin doll with wires inside so I could manipulate the limbs. (Hence the different poses and positions held by the dolls.) As with my collages and mixed media work, I used old drawings, paint, fabric and all kinds of other materials and found objects to give life to these dolls. The result is a series of original one of a kind pieces that relate to my other work in terms of the layering and "Primitive" style. As is usual with my work prior to around 2006, I don't have precise dates for the dolls. I remember working on them in 2005 and perhaps even starting them earlier and maybe continuing a few in 2006, so I'm dating the older ones all as 2005. I have since just this year started working on the dolls again and picking up old ones half started and finishing them as well as making completely new ones. I also decided they needed names, so I got all the names from looking through random text of the book "Finnegan's Wake" as I find many lovely name words in it.
